American Flag Painted on Clawfoot Tub

Dunwoody’s July 4th parade is coming up soon and the tub is ready for display. It is a 4 ½ foot clawfoot tub with the American Flag carefully painted on both sides!  She will ride in the back of the truck with one thousand pencils to be given to the kids and adults.

Resurfacing Process:  The resurfacing process was standard for a clawfoot tub. First the exterior was carefully ground and sand blasted to remove the old finish. Casting roughness was repaired and a primer applied. Three coats of white were applied and allowed to cure, the tub was turned right side up, cleaned and repaired, and then three more coats of white were applied to the inside.

Next we got off the beaten track and applied 50 self sticking stars to each side of the clawfoot tub. They were sprayed blue and then removed leaving white stars for the flag. The stripes were laid out and painted red and finally three clear coats were applied.

  • Wow now that's a cool tub. I didn't know about the parade in Dunwoody, GA. Is there a tub in every 4th of July parade in Dunwoody? Or was this one on display as a donation to the parade? I will surly pass this info along

    Thanks again
